A new day dawns...

Hi all,
Seeing as it's my turn to blog this week and share projects over at the Stuff to Scrap blog I've been having a ball getting some layouts finished.
I really wanted to use this awesome Sun'N'Clouds pack designed by Leeann Pearce with this photo I took of a glorious sunrise and love the finished piece after adding lots of little bits of dimensional textures.

So here you have my entry for this months Kraft It Up challenge which was to use the words 'There is no greater gift than today' in either your title or journalling.

After looking at this photo...there truly was no greater gift than that sunrise.

Stay safe,
Shaz

I've just had the pleasure of photographing a friends 5 day old brand new adorable baby girl and of course I wanted to scrap a photo so this challenge was just perfect for it as it is to use white, hot pink and an artisan label.
So voila! Here's my entry:

I have sooooooo much to share with you...it's been AGES since I've done a 'normal' blog post and I hope to get one done this week some time so stay tuned.....

A new challenge and prize up for grabs

Hi all,
Hope you are all well.
Busy, busy, busy here as usual but hey what's new?

I want to let you know about a cool new monthly challenge and giveaway being held over at the new Stuff 2 Scrap blog.
Each month a DT member will come up with a challenge for you to take part in to win a whole heap of chipboard love.
This month the very talented Leeann Pearce has set the challenge which is to go above and beyond in embellishing a piece of chipboard.
We usually ink it, paint it or cover it in patterned paper but why not take it to the next level and embellish it as well?

I decided to alter a wooden letter T for this challenge. I started a collection of letter T's late last year (T for Thomson) and have them grouped in my lounge room. I had this put away for a while just begging to be scrapped.
So I pulled it out and gave it a coat of cream paint then covered it in vintage sheet music paper.
Wanting to create a vintage whimsy look I lightly inked my chipboard with Tim Holtz Distress inks then went around the edges again for added definition.
I used a scalloped border on the top of the T and embellished it with pretty pearls and a lovely trim.

Using the funky Retro Grass pack I played around with placement at the bottom of the T. I added a tree rub-on to the sheet music for a litle something extra then layered all the chipboard elements with some hand dyed doillies I'd previously made.
I embellished the Retro Grass plant with clear buttons and added a pearl to the centre of the flower. I then put the little chipboard heart in the pack on top of the grass and added a sentiment finishing this little cluster off with some punched sheet music butterflies, leaves and more pearls.

To finish off my project I used the sweet butterfly in the Retro Grass pack and adhered another sheet music punched butterfly on top for added definition.
And the end result.....

So why not head over to Stuff 2 Scrap and have a play for your chance to win, win, win and of course to check out the eye candy on display with the DT's fabulous creations!

This month Stuff 2 Scrap is also sponsoring a prize on the Scrap the Girls challenge site so be sure to check it out for another chance to win some awesome chippie goodness.
